Atlantic 1905 Steam Schooner Half Hull Model Yacht by Abordage'
This expert level, highly detailed, museum quality, Atlantic 1905 Schooner model is brand new, fully assembled and ready for display (not a kit). The manufacturer is Abordage'.
This steam schooner half hull model was crafted in mahogany and tropical hard woods by the traditional plank on bulkhead method. After the bulkheads are laid and the hull lines trued, the hull is planked with individual wooden strips to form a smooth silhouette.
The Atlantic 1905 Schooner model is then sanded, hand painted with black topsides, gold cove stripe and a varnished stained bottom. The half hull is then mounted on a ready to hang wooden plaque, with an engraved brass nameplate. The half hull model is built exactly to scale as the original Atlantic was. The task required skillful craftsmen hundreds of hours to accomplish.
The Schooner Atlantic was launched in 1903 by Townsend and Downey shipyard, Shooter Island, New York and designed by William Gardner, for Wilson Marshall. At that time the Atlantic was the largest yacht in the world, she later went on to win the Kaiser's Cup!

A full size replica of the Schooner Atlantic commissioned by Dutchman Ed Kastelein was launched in Holland at the Van der Graaf yard on March 15th 2008 and is being fitted out and rigged in Holland. They have their own web site at http://www.schooner-atlantic.com
The half hull model plaque measures 29.5"(75cm) x 7.8"(20cm) and the model measures 23.6"(60cm) long from bow to stern. It's an historic half hull model sailboat that is sure to become a treasured family heirloom.
