This expert level, highly detailed, museum quality, Schooner Atlantic 1903 yacht model is brand new, fully assembled and ready for display (not a kit). The manufacturer is Abordage'.
This exclusive Schooner Atlantic yacht model was handcrafted using the highest quality selection of precious wood by the traditional plank on bulkhead method (after the bulkheads are laid and the hull lines trued, the hull is planked with individual wooden strips to form a smooth silhouette).
The Atlantic model has been hand sanded, hand painted with polyurethane paint & has high gloss black topsides, white cove & boot stripe and red bottom paint. The very detailed deck fittings are reproduced with custom-made brass and chromed brass castings.
The sailboat model is mounted with brass pedestals on a high quality hardwood display base with gold trim and a nameplate. The model is built exactly to scale as the original Schooner Atlantic was. The task required skillful craftsmen hundreds of hours to accomplish. This model combines the careful execution of every detail with the high quality of the materials and the craftsmanship.
The Schooner Atlantic was launched in 1903 by Townsend and Downey shipyard, Shooter Island, New York and designed by William Gardner, for Wilson Marshall. At that time the Atlantic was the largest yacht in the world, she later went on to win the Kaiser's Cup!

A full size replica of the Schooner Atlantic commissioned by Dutchman Ed Kastelein was launched in Holland at the Van der Graaf yard on March 15th 2008 and is being fitted out and rigged in Holland. They have their own web site at http://www.schooner-atlantic.com
