This exclusive Mischief 1881 America's Cup yacht model was handcrafted using the highest quality selection of precious wood by the traditional plank on bulkhead method (after the bulkheads are laid and the hull lines trued, the hull is planked with individual wooden strips to form a smooth silhouette).
The Mischief 1881 sailboat model has been hand sanded, hand painted with polyurethane paint & has cream white topsides, gold cove & boot stripe and dark green bottom paint. The very detailed deck fittings are reproduced with custom-made brass castings.

The sailboat model is mounted with brass pedestals on a high quality hardwood display base with gold trim. The model is built exactly to scale as the original Mischief 1881 Yacht was. The task required skillful craftsmen hundreds of hours to accomplish. This model combines the careful execution of every detail with the high quality of the materials and the craftsmanship.

The Mischief was launched in 1879 and was designed by Archibald Cary Smith. She was built for Joseph R. Busk of the New York Yacht Club. She went on to be the victorious American defender of the fourth America's Cup race in 1881 against Canadian challenger "Atalanta".
The Mischief a centerboard sloop was built of iron construction and was nicknamed "The Iron Pot". It was the second all metal yacht to be built in the United States. The Mischief was seized in 1904 for suspected smuggling between the United States and Canada, was stripped of its yacht registration.
It was bought in 1906 by the Mayflower Oil Company and used as a barge for shipping oil in Boston. In 1929 it was towed offshore to be scuttled and finally sunk after being bombarded by the navy warship "Mojave". Her last day was saluted and viewed by over 20 yachts from East Coast Yacht Clubs.
