This exclusive Riva Aquarama Special model was handcrafted using the highest quality selection of precious wood by the traditional plank on bulkhead method (after the bulkheads are laid and the hull lines trued, the hull is planked with individual wooden strips to form a smooth silhouette).
The high detail of this model is such that if possible the same type of wood used in the original construction of the Riva speed boat is used.

The Riva Aquarama Special model has been hand sanded and hand varnished with 8 coats of marine yacht quality varnish. Hand painted with polyurethane marine paint is the aquamarine blue boot stripe and high gloss white bottom. The very detailed deck fittings are reproduced with custom-made chromed brass castings.
The vinyl and leather use in the construction of this model is purchased directly from Riva.
The Riva Aquarama Special model is mounted with chrome pedestals on a high quality hardwood display base with white trim, name plate and a glossy shadow feature with a compass rose on it. Also included is a plexiglas display case to protect the model for years to come. The model is built exactly to scale as the original Riva Aquarama Special was using actual plans & drawings supplied by Riva. The task required skillful craftsmen hundreds of hours to accomplish. This model combines the careful execution of every detail with the high quality of the materials and the craftsmanship.

The Riva Aquarama was a speedboat model built by Italian yachtbuilder Riva. Production ran for over three decades from Aquarama's introduction in 1962 till 1996. Carlo Riva launched the Aquarama runabout series in 1962. Aquarama's hull was based on Riva Tritone - an earlier model speedboat by Riva, which in turn was inspired by the American mahogany Hacker-Craft runabouts. Because of the boats speed, beauty and craftmanship behind it Aquarama was praised as the Ferrari of the boat world. The company was founded by Pietro Riva in 1842.
The Riva Aquarama's 8.02 - 8.78 metre hull was carved from mahogany wood. Hull was varnished so it left the wood visible. All versions of the Aquarama were twin engined. Power varied from 185 hp to 400 hp per engine. For example Cadillac- and Chrysler-engines tuned by Riva were used. Aquaramas' cruise speed was up to 45 knots. On top of the engine compartment there was a cushioned sundeck. The boats also carried a convertible roof which disappeared behind the rear seat and cockpit. There was a swim ladder mounted in the stern of the boat. The article "Riva_Aquarama" is part of the Wikipedia encyclopedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riva_Aquarama
The Riva Aquarama model measures 13.78" (35cm) in length. This speed boat model is truly a work of art that is sure to become a treasured family heirloom.
