| Japanese Kaiwo Maru Tall Training Ship Wooden Model 32"
This high quality, detailed, intermediate level, Kaiwo Maru training ship model is fully assembled (not a kit). The masts are folded down to save on shipping and a medium skill level is required for assembly.
This Kaiwo Maru Tall Ship Model was specially designed & built by the plank on frame method (joining multiple small pieces of Rose & White wood). The sailboat model is built to scale as the original Kaiwo Maru was. The task required skillful craftsmen many hours to accomplish.
The Kaiwo Maru was a Japanese training tall ship. She was launched in 1930. During WWII the yards (sails) were removed but the masts remained fully rigged and the ship was used for auxiliary transport in domestic waters with steam power. After the war the Kaiwo Maru was used for repatriation service. Around 1952 the yards were replaced and she was put back into operation as a sail training ship. She retired in 1989 and is exhibited in Kaiwo Maru Park in Imizu, Toyama.

The model measures 32.5" long from bow to stern. It's a fabulous boat model that will be a conversation piece for any room or office.
